Opening Round Success

The Doane Tigers kicked off Thursday morning with a victory over Briar Cliff University at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

The teams mindset going into the game was showing the conference that they really were the best team, and deserved the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship.

"Alot of teams don't think we are the best team in the GPAC," Junior AJ Spanel said. "We want to prove that we are, in fact, the best."

Senior Chance Brull threw a complete game, striking out five Charger hitters.

"I knew the offense was going to get the job done," Brull said. "I tried staying aggressive and making them earn their hits."

The Tigers will play at 6 pm tonight at Sherman Field in Lincoln against the winner of Northwestern vs Dakota Wesleyan.
